Below you can see what we thought was going to be released, written before we knew what we were actually going to get:

As the Kindle color release date 2011 looms ever closer there is more speculation than even before about just what the exact specs are going to be. The Kindle 4, if the color Kindle is to be the 4th generation Kindle, is due out by either the end of the Summer or some time in October, rankly sources keep changing their minds about the exact date.

What is up for debate currently is if the color Kindle 2011 is actually going to be a Kindle as we know it or more of a Tablet. From what we have heard it seems that Amazon will be releasing Tablets and Kindles this year and rumors keep changing about exactly what is to come out.

    Color Kindle Or Amazon Tablet

The main speculation centers around if the color option is going to be a regular Kindle just in color or a Tablet that has all the features we associate with such devices. A Tablet will give full Internet capability and will have a touch screen, something a lot of people are very interested in acquiring.

But what about the classic Kindle 3 style we have come to love?

The simplicity of the Kindle 3 is what makes it such a hit. If we had all the current options as well as a color option then this may well be enough to satisfy most people.

    Color Kindle Rumors

Currently the rumors are that as well as Amazon releasing a tablet they are going to release 2 new Kindle versions. It seems that screens are already being produced.

We are most likely going to see a color option as well as a simple updated version of the current Kindle 3 with better specs. But touch screen is also an option.

All of this remains to be changed, rumors could be totally wrong, and we will frankly not know for sure for a little while yet, but the new color Kindle is certainly going to be available in one form or another, there is little doubt about that.

Personally something with a touch screen would be ideal, it is one of the great features of tablets. But having to sacrifice the weeks long battery life to have a touch screen?

Ah, decisions, decisions. The color Kindle is going to be here though.
